Heli Valkonen is desperately in love with her husband. But Matti is just not in the mood. He is only interested in playing computer games, dressed in worn out fleece pants. For him, a shoulder massage is the highest form of intimacy. When subtle hints, nice words and fetching clothes won't help, Heli resorts in direct, and increasingly direct action - in vain.

When a feisty village gossip ropes a visiting junior hockey team into her schemes, hoping one will notice her granddaughter, the resulting clash with the exasperated mayor and a hapless regional inspector sets off a chain of uproarious misunderstandings. After years in Canada, Thomas, returning home, finds a rather frosty welcome. Bernhard has moved in with his girlfriend Maria and the children, and much else in the village is different. His brother Winnie manages the family farm and has a stable family, his rival Bernhard has a solid job, while 35-year-old professional athlete Thomas faces an uncertain future. As internal tensions grow, so does an external threat: After heavy snowfall, the village is to be evacuated due to the danger of avalanches...
