When France rumbles, the strategy and control of public order become a crucial political issue. Between protecting institutions and guaranteeing the right to demonstrate: the right balance is subtle. At the beginning of the Yellow Vests movement, at the end of 2018, the principles of "French-style" policing were shattered. The ransacking of the Arc Triomphe, the hundreds of injuries among the demonstrators and the forces of order mark the minds. How did it come to this? In order to understand, the film questions the so-called "legitimate" force and confronts them with the images of these confrontations.

Wednesday afternoon was deliberately chosen. There were a lot of customers in front of and in the brothers Özcan and Hasan Yildirim’s barbershop on 9 June 2004, when 700 three-inch carpenters’ nails turned into projectiles with a 250 metre range. 22 people were injured. The attack was infamous; the course of the investigations was equally scandalous: the victims were suspected. CCTV material was not analysed and Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily decisively ruled out a right wing background. It was only in 2001 that this crime was solved in the course of the revelations concerning the right wing extremist terrorist “National Socialist Underground” group. The trial continues until the present day.
During an arrest in 2017, teenager Anna Chambers was raped by two NYPD cops. who claimed she consented. Anna's story is far from the only one in the USA. This documentary was produced by Citizen Film and Young Community Developers, in collaboration with a coalition of organizations, enterprises, city agencies, and community partners. To create the documentary, Citizen Film’s Tamara Walker facilitated and captured constructive dialogue between African American officers and the communities they police, helping officers understand how they are perceived by the community, and how the community is perceived by them.

At the end of the last civil-military dictatorship, a camouflage operation took place in the Information Service, an office of the former Rosario Police Headquarters that operated as a clandestine detention center in the heart of the city. This architectural intervention, not recorded in the plans, obscures the survivors' accounts and hides the traces of crimes against humanity. Drawing on images, previously unpublished archives, and survivor testimonies, the documentary explores the scars of political repression and highlights the importance of preserving memorial spaces to ensure the transmission of fundamental events in our contemporary history.
