mise-en-scène

This is my third and final short film to my Fyrhtu Unkent (2026) trilogy, this final instalment taking place multiple years later and expanding whilst introducing new themes to the franchises overall meaning of the feeling of loneliness being lost and then the concept of acceptance of grief in a mental hell on Earth.

This is a short experimental drama meant to evoke a sense of unease in an everyday neighbourhood and observing the surroundings we all see everyday as the sun sets, but we might not all look close enough...

mens·beeld (het; o; meervoud: mensbeelden) A "Mensbeeld" is a well-thought-out and coherent representation of what it means to be human. Human images are linked to (historically determined) philosophical, philosophical or religious convictions.

Dave is a professional internet troll who lies for a living. Candace works at a blood lab with a bipolar boss. They meet online and discover it's hard to hug someone when you're keeping them at arm's length.

A young couple struggling with infertility seeks the aide of a healer with a promised remedy, while unknown forces also work to provide them with what they wish.

When casual hook-ups become too debilitating, a man suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder seeks out different ways to purge himself of the consequences of the night before.

The film tells a narrative of two characters who are experiencing very different types of internal crises, however both are in desperate need for empathy and human connection. Their inner emotions, fears, and feelings are presented through the metaphorical environments - a tree with mirrors hanging everywhere, and an empty field on a windy day. The film creates a contrast between the chaotic, and exaggerated reality of personal emotion, and restrictive, ordinary reality of the real world. By focusing on characters who navigate public spaces while carrying private weights, I aim to reflect how social norms become obstacles to connection, as people are taught to stay by themselves and never share anything with anyone. This explores the paradoxical factor of human condition: we are surrounded by people, yet we remain profoundly isolated.

Once the video ends, a 24-hour countdown begins for him. This final day becomes a search for hope. Inside him, a battle between hope and despair unfolds.
