When a Brooklyn high school student writes the police code for homicide, 187, inside a textbook owned by teacher Trevor Garfield, Garfield feels threatened. The principal dismisses the incident, but the same student stabs Trevor soon after. Fifteen months later, a physically and emotionally scarred Trevor relocates to California and takes up substitute teaching. To his dismay, his new school is as full of dangerously undisciplined students as his old one—including four Latin Americans and a European American claiming membership in tagging gang K.O.S. (Kappin' Off Suckers)—driving him over the edge.

Mirae gets an offer of a K-pop trainee contract. She looks back on her short life and finds her past that would ruin her future career and reputation, as she dreams of becoming a k-pop star. Most of all, her ex-boyfriend, Jaemin, is the most worrisome. She starts to clear her past and sets out to find Jaemin.

Home alone on the eve of her First Communion, 12-year-old Carmen receives an unexpected visit from a trio of neighborhood roller girls and scooter boys. While at her home, the kids make Carmen painfully aware of her religious upbringing, ultimately stealing her First Communion dress, culminating in a final showdown at their local roller rink.
