The Christmas Tapes (2022) is a found-footage horror anthology that assembles a series of unsettling recordings tied together by the Christmas season. Through a collection of cursed videos, paranormal encounters, and disturbing home footage, the film explores how festive traditions become a backdrop for escalating supernatural terror. A young female reporter has the brilliant idea to create a fake video report on everyday crime, ranging from fights between couples that end with murder, friendships that end up ruined forever, incest, rape, to even drugs and accidental deaths. She finds a friend who is obsessed with his camera and asks him to do the mockumentary for her voluntarily. He agrees and both start recruiting amateur actors, friends and people who like the idea playing in front of the camera. The fake scenes soon become real.

Four college students from Shandong University of Technology planned to make a documentary about the folk culture of ghosts and spirits. They went to a village in Heze City, Shandong Province, and made some interviews with local villagers. During the interviews, they heard a lot of local weird tales. The shooting of the documentary went smoothly, and that night, they chose to stay in the village. At this point, strange things, however, began to happen...
