Hijack is an action thriller. The film revolves around Vikram Madan (Shiney Ahuja) who is a ground maintenance officer at the Chandigarh airport. His social life is limited to one friend, Rajeev, who is the Security Chief of the same airport. As luck would have it, the flight in which Vikram’s daughter was traveling to Amritsar from Delhi, is hijacked.

The friendship between two children is threatened by their parents’ differences. Malú is from a family that was upper-class before the Revolution and remains well-to-do through remittances from relatives overseas, and her single mother (Larisa Vega Alamar) does not want her to play with Jorgito, as she thinks his background coarse and commonplace. Following political upheaval, traditionally poor countries have stopped exporting raw materials. The Western world is entering an economic crisis, which is rapidly spreading to Norway. Unemployment rises sharply, and it becomes more difficult to obtain food. The government does not officially acknowledge the crisis, but fear spreads among the population. Demonstrations between the population and the police are now a daily occurrence. Thomas and Vera are also unemployed. The only way out of their predicament is to move out of the city and rent an abandoned farm. The sale of food is banned. Military forces arrive to confiscate what little they have. Father is based on a real life incident of an engineer from J&K's PwD Department who fulfils multiple responsibilities in his life. He is a husband, father and above all - a sincere and honest citizen. The film captures the struggle of a father who'd go to any length to achieve the dreams of his child while maintaining his duty towards the country. Father depicts the patriotism of a common man who fights for his country. There are also some light elements in the film portraying a typical middle class husband-wife relationship, their love and their tiffs. Recently divorced from his wife, Pooja Talwar, Gujarat-born Vivan Shah, who works as a Jockey with Mumbai's Radio Mirchi, dramatically meets with Shanaya Dhingra - whose mother is Parsi and father a Punjabi. Circumstances force him to gate-crash her wedding ceremony and spend a night in a prison cell by her enraged DCP father. Subsequently, a friendship develops between the two and she even assists him with his job - and lands one herself.
