25-year-old Arghavan lives with her parents in Tehran, and intends to marry her fiancé, Hesam. One day, her short stories win her a grant to attend a writing workshop in Germany. Plagued by gossip and finding little solace, Arghavan's life begins turning into a nightmare.

A wedding day becomes a ritual of mourning when the bride's family die in an auto accident. Refusing to accept her daughter's death, and in the midst of guests and mourners, including the drivers that caused the accident, the mother orders the wedding to move forward. But how can the bride marry in the midst of a wake and without the family's traditional mirror, which the sister was bringing to the service?

Three friends are hanging out on the roof in Sarajevo. Their hangout is interrupted by the Yugoslavian time traveler who explains them that they are in danger and need to use the time machine to go back to Yugoslavia and warn people that the future generations messed up. They travel back in time to find themselves not in Yugoslavia, but in Iran. Clash of the cultures is evident, and they are forced to hide their identity. But the more they discover the city, the more they realize it is scarily similar to their own.

His death in 651, during the Arab invasions that brought Islam to this Zoroastrian realm, remains mysterious: his corpse is discovered in a mill, but the cause of death—and the whereabouts of his remains—are unknown.

The wife is convinced her husband is having an affair and enlists Rouhi as a spy, to follow her husband, and confirm her suspicions.
