France, beginning of World War II. Hélène Studler is a nun who has been dedicated to the care of orphans and the abandoned people. But the times have changed, the people are living a whole revolt, the Germansoldiers have entered their city and the reality that now faces far exceeds the harshness to which they are accustomed: Hélène discovers that near her locality, the Nazis have installed a concentration camp. Along with some people of the city, several of her Sisters Daughters of Charity plot a whole plan to free the captives from their tragic end.

Sisterhood is powerful. Before leaving for a mission in Africa, Runa, a nun, visits her sister three years after entering the convent when her sister stole Runa's boyfriend. Runa comes to forgive and to help her sister make enough money buying and selling some convent property so she can marry. The old boyfriend has new women in his life, but he and the sister tell Runa they're a couple in order to keep the property deal. To make even more money, Runa's sister wheedles large gifts from various men she's stringing along. There are flashbacks to Runa's sexual awakening at the convent. After the Charlie Hebdo shooting events by the hand of jihadist terrorists David wants to bring on stage a play based on the late satyrical cartoonist George Wolinski's comicbook strips, but he struggles to finds cohoperation from institutional figures. He then agrees to direct in a small provincial town a stage play about an apulian folk dance, the Pizzica. Masterminding to disguise the original planned one, with its sexually explicit nature, into the accorded one he will gain the complicity of the curious cast hired on the spot. The start of the rehearsals will arouse excited consensus either censure which will lead to a growing boycott of the staging.
