Inada plays Betty Yoshida, a singer and dancer from America who arrives in Japan to go on tour, only to be swindled by scheming managers. Penniless and cast to the streets, Betty is taken in by Oki (Nakagawa), a talented tap dancer who introduces her to a group of struggling musicians living and working together.
New wave geniuses who helped define an era with their quirky, futuristic, and revolutionary style are back, entertaining the Japanese crowds who love them as much today as they did 25 years ago. Devo have been through a lot over the years, developing their parody of humankind's plight of conformity in their theory of devolution after member Gerald Casale witnessed the Kent State killings of student protesters in 1970, but they haven't wavered in their innovative sounds and pioneering visuals.
Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer first joined forces in 1970 and went on to become a global success story. After a break in the eighties, they reunited in the early nineties and took to the road once more. In 1997 they made their debut at the Montreux Jazz Festival with a performance that included all their trademark virtuosity and showmanship. The show includes classic tracks from across their career including Karnevil 9, Hoedown, Take A Pebble, Lucky Man, Tiger in the Spotlight, Tarkus and Fanfare for the Common Man. Recorded live on July 7, 1997 at the Audtitorium Stravinski, Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland). Programme copyright 2010.
