T.J. is a boy genius who gets bumped up from the fourth grade to high school. T.J. tries to adjust to his new life, but he shares some classes with his 14 year-old brother Marcus, the school jock, and his clueless and self-absorbed 16 year-old sister Yvette.

T.J. skips grades and enters high school at age 10.
In the opener, T.J. has trouble learning the ropes outside the classroom and pays the price for breaking ""The Code,"" which states you never rat on a friend. The friend in question is Mo, a star player on the school's basketball team. When T.J. tattles on Mo for smoking in the boys room, Mo is suspended from the team and misses an important game. Ostracized and unhappy, T.J. hatches a misguided plot to make amends by sabotaging the rival team's report cards.
Two twin sisters move to the school. Marcus gets a date with the pretty cheerleader, but unknowingly mistakes her for her smart twin later. As he realizes how much he likes them both, Marcus sets up a plan to date them both. The cheerleader will date Marcus, while the intelligent one will date ... Marquis.
When the keyboard player in Marcus' band breaks his finger, T.J sits in. Meanwhile, Yvette is mortified when her friend admits having a crush on her dad.
When Mo and T.J. are teamed up by their biology teacher to observe animal behavior, T.J. decides they'll watch his brother Marcus and sister Yvette.
T.J. earns a spot on the game show Knowledge College in the hope that his winnings will help defray household expenses, but the pressure may be too much.
Yvette is convinced T.J. is dying to go to the prom, despite his protestations, so Floyd gets him a date -- then Marcus gets him a date -- then Yvette gets him a date....
