In the new workplace reality series High Voltage Heroes we get a rare insight into the tasks the line workers face — and the effort that keeps Norway running, even when everything else comes to a standstill.
A new power line is being built in Trøndelag, involving everything from blasting old lines to challenging helicopter lifts. Meanwhile, Storm "Floris" is battering the southwest coast of Norway, causing widespread damage to the power grid.
At the Grana power plant in Trøndelag, a rotor weighing over 100 tons is to be lowered into a stator, which requires great precision. The “line crew” is working in Rogaland, handling many different challenging assignments.
Storm “Amy” is raging and demanding a major effort from the energy line workers in Rogaland and Trøndelag. Kjell and Tor Henry are on the move again in Trondheim, and important work is being carried out on a generator at the Nore power plant in Numedal.
In Rogaland, Rune and his team will be performing live-line work—working under voltage—which requires full focus and strict safety procedures, because working while the power is still connected to the grid is very dangerous.
In Kolvereid, a switchboard panel and transformer need replacing — delivered by helicopter, boat and a six-wheeled all-terrain vehicle, as there is no road access to the substation. Meanwhile, the trash rack at Åsmulfoss power plant is in need of a thorough cleaning.
In Tyssedal, a pumping station high up in the mountains is due for maintenance, and sisters Veline and Rebekka must be flown in by helicopter to reach it. Elsewhere, Elen and Roger are tasked with surveying a dam.

Hailing from a long line of powerful legal figures, Alex Murdaugh along with his wife, Maggie, and sons, Buster and Paul, enjoyed unparalleled sway over authorities, until Paul’s involvement in a tragic boating accident thrust a level of scrutiny on the family’s actions and legacy, revealing a bizarre and deadly chain of events. Over twenty years, the ultra-rich have multiplied their wealth sixfold and cut their taxes to the point of being taxed less than the poorest. The situation is the same across the whole planet. How have states favoured the richest in order to keep them at home? How have they come to be so widely backed by an ideology that extols the merits of “trickle-down” economics? Why are the ultra-rich fighting at all costs against bills like the Zucman Tax, which would make it possible to tax their wealth and, according to its advocates, restore tax fairness on an international scale? And how, in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe, is a new generation of millionaires taking the opposite stance from their elders and peers and trying to put an end to this inequality?
With six centuries of history behind it, the Inquisition stands out as the most formidable system of repression in European history. Documentary-maker Stan Neumann tells the story of the origins and evolution of this ‘police of souls’ – at once secret and spectacular – whose influence is still felt in today’s world.
