Ruth Jones stars as a 40-something mum juggling the ups and downs of family life amid the chaos of her eccentric friends, relatives and children's fathers.


Stella is fed up with her appearance. Attempting to glam herself up, she has a bit of fun in daughter Emma's bedroom, trying on her clothes and playing with make-up. But the fun comes to an abrupt halt when she makes a startling discovery.

Stella ends up reacting badly to Emma's news, which causes a rift between them.

After a local legend called 'Dick the Kick' passes away, Stella attempts to help Paula throw the funeral of the century for him.

Stella is pleased when her eldest son, Luke, returns home. Before long though he's in with the wrong crowd, leading to tensions with Sean.

Stella starts a fitness drive in the build-up to her date with Sean. After Dai goes missing though she is soon distracted. There is a surprise for Luke.

While Stella looks like the cat that got the cream following her night with Sean, Emma hears a worrying rumour about Sunil. Luke has something on his mind too.

Luke has a 25th birthday party, but his mind is elsewhere having met with his estranged father. While dad Rob is eager to make up for lost time, Luke is unsure whether he wants to get to know him. Meanwhile, Stella and Sean step into the boxing ring, where a practical joke leads to a close shave when Sean receives a killer blow.

The weekend of the stag and hen parties arrives, and while the girls head for a hotel and spa break, Dai saves the boys from a Grease-themed event by taking them camping in Brecon. However, Stella is devastated when she hears Luke is considering moving to Canada to live with dad Rob.

As Stella deals with the news that Luke is going to leave, Emma goes into labour at school, leading Stella and Rob to grow closer when they come to her rescue.

Ruth Jones's hit comedy drama concludes as Luke prepares to move to Canada, while Stella must decide between Sean and Rob. Who will she choose? Last in current series.

Ivor the Engine is a British children's animation by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin's Smallfilms company.
