The aftermath of 9/11 has left the firefighters of the NYFD traumatized, and no one more so than Tommy Gavin. Recently separated from his wife and their three kids, Tommy drifts between sorrow and anger as he tries to shake the recurring nightmares of his fallen comrades, especially his late cousin, Jimmy Keefe. Working alongside veterans like Lt. “Lou” Shea, Franco Rivera and Sean Garrity, and rookie Mike Lombardi, Tommy battles alcohol and drugs as he struggles to remain first and foremost a New York City firefighter.

The series follows Southern California's elite rescue task force, SAF3 (pronouced "safe") , consists of the cream-of-the-crop from the sea, air, and fire divisions of the Malibu Fire Department. They are the heroes who answer the most challenging calls; specialists who collaborate, coordinate, and initiate daring rescues in the most dangerous venues to save human life, always aware of the harsh reality that one of them may not return.

Encouraged by the fireman leader Chung Yau-sing, young and playful Fong Lei-on joins the team and gets to know Cheuk Pak-yu. Unfortunately, the two of them are having lots of misunderstanding at work. Lei-on believes that Pak-yu has stolen Yau-sing's lover, fire department clerk Ko Wai-ying, and causes the serious injury of Yau-sing. Meanwhile, a gruesome fire accident has drawn everyone into a twist of fate that has led them to find a deeper sense of awareness.
In the smoke-filled clubs of Hamburg's St. Pauli red-light district in the 1960s, an inexperienced young rock 'n' roll band from Liverpool collide with two young artists, Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr. Together, they help spark a transformation that turns a scrappy group of teenagers into the greatest music phenomenon the world has ever known: The Beatles.
