The New Adventures of Davy Crockett is a revival in which Tim Dunigan took over Fess Parker's famous role. Johnny Cash played an older Davy in a few scenes set before he went to Texas.

An ageing Davy Crockett visits his old friend Andrew Jackson, who's now the US president, while on his way to the Alamo. They reminisce about old times, and that flashback begins the adventure. It's all quite good fun despite the fact that, as you would expect from a Disney picture, it's a bit sanitised and the `backwoods' dialogue is sometimes hard to take.
Davy's friend is attacked by a Grizzly Bear. Davy Tries to shoot it, but misfires leaving only his vocal cords to scare the bear away.
The soldiers are fearing an attack by the Indians. davy has to explain that the Indians gather every year for a religious ceromony. The Captain sees this as a chance to destroy the Indians so he sends Davy and Russell to search out the location. Davy plans just to tell him he can,t find the location, but his plan is derailed when Davy has to save an Indian boy from a wolf.
Davy isn't allowed a family leave. He writes to Polly and then risks a court martial to get it sent.
An Indian medicine man stands over the encampment chanting spells, shortly after an earthquake strikes. The camp is soon full of rumors about this Indian's power.
