Emma Woodhouse, a young lifestyle entrepreneur and matchmaker, decides to document her greatness for future achievements, much to her lifelong friend and business partner Alex Knightley's amusement.

In the midst of her friend (and client) Annie's doubts about getting married, Alex reminds Emma that she is in need of an assistant.

When Alex finds a candidate for the new assistant position, a reluctant Emma agrees to interview recent college grad, Harriet Smith.

Annie makes a decision about her upcoming wedding.

Emma pledges to solve the problem standing in the way of Annie and Ryan's wedding despite Alex's objections.

Harriet digs up dirt on the Weston family and Emma attempts to reach the unreachable Frank Churchill.

Emma has one more trick up her sleeve to convince Annie to go through with her wedding.

Alex discovers Emma's deceptive plan for getting the attention of Frank Churchill.

With the Weston wedding a week away, Alex wants Emma to start looking for a new client.

Alex disapproves of Emma taking on Harriet as a client.

Emma decides Harriet deserves better than the IT guy and plans to find better prospects for her assistant.

Emma and Harriet set their sights on California's youngest elected official, Senator James Elton.

Emma tries to track down her next potential client, Senator Elton.

Emma reassures Alex that Senator Elton will come to them after Ryan's recommendation tweet.

Emma helps Harriet make a decision about Martin, and Senator Elton finally makes his move.

Office morale is down and Emma is forced to think about her actions after Alex expresses his disappoinment in her.

After spending quality time with her father, Emma returns from holiday and meets with her latest high-profile client.

With Emma's help, Harriet and James get to know each other better.

Even though James's coaching is progressing nicely, Harriet doesn't seem to be completely on board with Emma's plans.

Alex finds out about Emma's plans for Harriet and James.

Emma convinces Harriet to show off her musical talents to woo the Senator.

Emma's plan seems to be working perfectly— to Emma, at least.

On the day of the holiday party, the truth finally sinks in for Emma.

James finally reveals his true intentions, much to Emma's embarrassment.

After the first failure in her career, Emma starts the year with a renewed attitude.

Noticing Emma isn't bouncing back as well as she thinks she has, Alex enlists the help of Izzy, Emma's older sister (and his sister-in-law), to get her out of her funk.

Wanting to make sure her instincts are right, Emma asks Harriet and Alex for their opinion on Izzy's situation.

With no conclusive answers, Emma decides to take the direct approach.

Determined to solve the problem in her sister's marriage, Emma convinces Izzy to take matters into her own hands and present John with a foolproof plan.

Emma's meddling unfortunately creates more friction between the Knightleys.

After discovering her schemes, Alex confronts Emma about the conflict she caused in their siblings' marriage.

Emma shares how Izzy and John resolved things. Meanwhile, Harriet shares that she started an online music club.

Alex once again tries to get Emma to take on Maddy Bates as a client.

In order to get Alex's approval to throw a party, Emma finally meets with Maddy.

Emma plans a high-profile benefit to introduce potential clientele to the Bates' financial service.

Harriet and Martin have an awkward encounter. Alex restrains Emma from breaking it up.

With the benefit over a week away, challenges arise as Emma and Harriet struggle to find a celebrity guest, venue, and cause.

An unexpected guest could be the answer to Emma's problems.

Things begin to come together for Maddy's benefit: Emma finds a celebrity guest, Harriet nails down a location, and Frank Churchill helps out with last-minute details.

Emma revels in the success of the benefit. Meanwhile, Alex reveals he may have a bit of a jealous side.

Emma is in for a surprise when a former client re-enters her life asking her for her event planning services.

With Alex and Harriet's support, Emma decides to take on James Elton and Caroline Lee's engagement party.

Emma tries to get to know Caroline better, only to be annoyed by her.

Frustrations escalate as Emma begins planning the engagement party. Caroline tests Emma with her high demands, and Alex points out their striking similarities.

Emma insists she and Caroline are different, especially after Caroline gets a chef fired.

Alex reassures Emma about the engagement party and encourages Harriet to believe in herself.

On the day of the engagement party, James stops by the office to exclude Harriet from the party, but Alex asks her to be his date.

The day after the successful party, Caroline drops by the office to say goodbye. Emma takes the opportunity to ask her a question.

The Emma Approved office adjusts to their new employee, Jane Fairfax— Emma, especially, attempts to win her over.

Emma teams up with Frank Churchill to throw a bachelor/bachelorette auction.

Emma convinces Alex and Jane to take photos for the auction; Frank doesn't show.

Emma wants to find out who sent Jane a mysterious gift, but her new hire seems to be hiding secrets.

Insisting that she isn't gossiping, Emma is still making speculations about Jane's mystery gift sender.

Annie wants plays matchmaker for Alex and Jane, much to Emma's dismay.

Emma puts Annie's theory to the test to see if Alex and Jane really do have any chemistry.

With the auction only a day away, Frank Churchill has to leave unexpectedly.

With the success of the benefit still not far behind them and not wanting to break the momentum, Emma begins to eye another big client: Boxx, an eco-friendly restaurant. Too impatient to wait until the company officially lands them, she also decides she wants to throw Annie a baby shower.

Emma scrambles to make both Annie's baby shower and the Boxx event a success. Jane sees a business opportunity for her aunt.

After Frank rescues her from a car accident, Harriet has a new crush, but Emma tries not to interfere this time.

Frank comes to visit and he spills some information about the opening that could ruin the event.

Emma blames Maddy for telling Frank about the restaurant secret and Jane gets offended. Alex suspects Frank and Jane are hiding something, but Emma finds it ridiculous.

Very busy with the Boxx opening, Emma has to work during Annie's baby shower.

Frank convinces Emma not to use Maddy's jams for the gift bags given at the restaurant opening.

After the party, Emma must face the consequences of her bad actions.

Harriet takes the reins while Emma wallows.

Emma apologizes to Maddy for what went down at the Boxx opening.

Annie reveals that Frank and Jane used to date, which proves Emma has been wrong about many things.

Emma has a realization about something she should've known all along.

After Harriet and Emma's revealing conversation things become awkward between the two friends.

Alex returns to the office.

Frank visits the office to make an official apology.

Emma helps Harriet plan the perfect proposal for Martin.
