War & Politics / Drama
The unique, and rarely told true stories of Australian and New Zealand nurses serving at Gallipoli and the Western Front during the First World War.

Our nurses arrive in Egypt and soon realise that war is not quite the 'splendid adventure' they initially thought as they deal with convoy after convoy of dead and dying men from the botched Gallipoli campaign.

Overcoming intense hardship on the Greek island of Lemnos, Olive and Grace care for the injured troops from the botched August Offensive while Elsie fights to nurse her wounded husband Syd.

In Egypt, Alice and Elsie are confronted by the heart-wrenching reality of love during wartime, and whilst enduring the horrific conditions on Lemnos, Olive faces her greatest test of faith and resolve.

After being seconded to a British hospital in France, the girls come face-to-face with the snobbery of the British nursing staff. Alice is forced to face the emotional brutality of war when she hears news about Harry.

Alice struggles to accept Harry's death; Hilda discovers an aptitude for anaesthetics; Olive gets a proposal and Elsie returns to the war as part of the Croix Rouge.

Alice, Hilda and Elsie are stationed only kilometres from the front with the possibility of death edging ever closer, and the war seeming like it will never end.

Carnivàle is an American television series set in the United States during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. In tracing the lives of two disparate groups of people, its overarching story depicts the battle between good and evil and the struggle between free will and destiny; the storyline mixes Christian theology with gnosticism and Masonic lore, particularly that of the Knights Templar.

After the Fu family's massacre, only the daughter, Fu Zhaoxue survives, but the evidence points to her former lover, Gu Jingzhou. Returning with a new face as Lin Qianyu, she marries into the Gu family to uncover their secrets, reigniting a forbidden romance with Gu Jingzhou. As truths unfold, love and old grudges resurface, leading to an intense rekindling of feelings.

The Bletchley Circle follows the journey of four ordinary women with extraordinary skills that helped to end World War II. Set in 1952, Susan, Millie, Lucy and Jean have returned to their normal lives, modestly setting aside the part they played in producing crucial intelligence, which helped the Allies to victory and shortened the war. When Susan discovers a hidden code behind an unsolved murder she is met by skepticism from the police. She quickly realises she can only begin to crack the murders and bring the culprit to justice with her former friends. The Bletchley Circle paints a vivid portrait of post-war Britain in this fictional tale of unsung heroes.

Sharpe is a British series of television dramas starring Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe, a fictional British soldier in the Napoleonic Wars. Sharpe is the hero of a number of novels by Bernard Cornwell; most, though not all, of the episodes are based on the books. Produced by Celtic Films and Picture Palace Films for the ITV network, the series was shot mainly in Turkey and the Crimea, although some filming was also done in England, Spain and Portugal. The series originally ran from 1993 to 1997. In 2004, as part of ITV's new set of drama, ITV announced that it intended to produce new episodes of Sharpe, in co-production with BBC America, loosely based on his time in India, with Sean Bean continuing his role as Sharpe. Sharpe's Challenge is a two-part adventure; part one premiered on ITV on 23 April 2006, with part two being shown the following night. With more gore than earlier episodes, the show was broadcast by BBC America in September 2006.
