Few believed there was oil on the Norwegian continental shelf, but the day before Christmas in 1969 gets the Norwegian authorities an important call to change the nation forever.
This series of five episodes included the Norwegian oil adventure from the 1960s until today - an important period in Norwegian history. But since the first oil discoveries on the Ekofisk field in 1969, Norway has grown into a technological and economic superpower, mainly thanks to the large revenues from the seabed on the Norwegian Continental Shelf . March 1980: 123 people die in the worst disaster in Norwegian oil history. Much has been sacrificed in the pursuit of oil.
