A darkly comic swamp noir story of two best friends set in the late 1980s. Based on the novels by Joe R. Lansdale, the series follows Hap Collins, an East Texas white boy with a weakness for Southern women, and Leonard Pine, a gay, black Vietnam vet with a hot temper.


After lifelong best friends Hap and Leonard lose their jobs, a seductive figure from Hap's past resurfaces with a shadowy plan to score some major cash. Meanwhile, a menacing pair descends upon the duo’s hometown.

Enticed by Trudy, Hap and Leonard begin their search for the lost loot with new compatriots Howard, Chub and Paco. Leonard receives distressing news about his Uncle Chester.

As the group closes in on the stolen money, Hap, Leonard and Trudy revisit their pasts. Loyalties are tested within the gang during a fateful gathering at Leonard's house.

After counting the money, the gang discovers there’s not enough for their cause. Paco suggests buying cocaine in bulk to flip so they set off to meet Paco’s drug dealer, which leads them to an abandoned office where an unexpected duo await.

Soldier and Angel force Leonard to dig up the money but a surprise awaits them. Trudy stands her ground while Hap and Leonard seek a way out.

Hap and Leonard must fend for themselves. Trudy makes a confession to Hap. Hap makes a discovery.

Houston Knights is an American crime drama set in Houston, Texas. The show ran on CBS from 1987 to 1988 and had 31 episodes. The core of the show was the partnership between two very different cops from two different cultures. Chicago cop Joey LaFiamma, played by Michael Paré, is transferred to Houston after he kills a mobster from a powerful Mafia family and a contract is put out on him. Once there, he is partnered with Levon Lundy, played by Michael Beck, the grandson of a Texas Ranger. Although as different as night and day, and after a rocky beginning they form a successful partnership and become friends. This is aided to a certain extent by an event where a hitman from Chicago who holds the contract to shoot La Fiamma arrives in Houston and is ultimately killed by Lundy. During the series, it is revealed that both La Fiamma and Lundy have their own personal demons; La Fiamma's Chicago police partner had been killed when he went ahead while La Fiamma had waited for backup to arrive. Lundy's wife had been killed by an explosion that was intended to kill him.
