Four mates waste their twenties in a West Country village. Morpheus, a geeky conspiracy theorist runs a mystical souvenir shop with his unambitious sister, Sarah. His scrounger best friend Kent sleeps on their sofa rent-free, and his secret crush, Alison, runs a new age healing…

Kent returns to Neston Berry after failing at being a DJ. Sarah and Alison hear a legend about a mythical stash of nineties pills buried in a field. Morpheus meets his spirit guide.

After a night out in Bath, Morpheus leads the gang on an eight mile quest back to Neston Berry. Sarah goes through seven stages of drunk and Kent tries to pull a girl from the club.

When Alison breaks up with the Holy Man, the gang decide to get her wasted, but after Morpheus gets them thrown out of their local, they are forced to try...'The Other Pub'.

It's Neston Berry's annual Berry Man festival and Morpheus is chosen to be the star of the show. Sarah falls in love with a bat lover and attempts to win his affections whilst Morpheus becomes the object of another's. Kent and Alison find a new way to get wasted.

After yet another night out, the gang are feeling the effects, so Sarah and Alison go to an unbearable hipster BBQ in search of love and - more importantly - food, whilst Kent is left on his own to deal with his paranoia. All the while a chipper Morpheus takes Kent's Mum out for a pub lunch which turns sour...

Alison has tickets to an exclusive sex party, so with nothing else to do, all the gang agree to go despite feeling slightly out of their comfort zone. Will Sarah and Kent finally get it on? Will Morpheus lose his virginity? Will any of them ever feel clean again? Certainly in Morpheus's case...probably not.

Black Books centres around the foul tempered and wildly eccentric bookshop owner Bernard Black. Bernard’s devotion to the twin pleasures of drunkenness and wilful antagonism deepens and enriches both his life and that of Manny, his assistant. Bearded, sweet and good, Manny is everything that Bernard isn’t and is punished by Bernard relentlessly just for the crime of existing. They depend on each other for meaning as Fran, their oldest friend, depends on them for distraction. Black Books is a haven of books, wine and conversation, the only threat to the group’s peace and prosperity is their own limitless stupidity.

Jessica Day is an offbeat and adorable girl in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys. Goofy, positive, vulnerable and honest to a fault, Jess has faith in people, even when she shouldn't. Although she's dorky and awkward, she's comfortable in her own skin. More prone to friendships with women, she's not used to hanging with the boys—especially at home.
