Daisuke doesn't hide his disgust when his son Teppei is late to the family New Year's Eve dinner. Later, Teppei approaches his father with a proposal.

Teppei informs his employees that they'll move ahead with plans to build the blast furnace — even though he has yet to lock in the funding.

With Zenidaka, Teppei heads into Tokyo to visit the major banks to raise the remaining funds. Later, he reaches out to Okawa for help.

Teppei returns from a successful business trip to Chicago. Daisuke uncovers an act of corruption, but family loyalty prevents him from weaponizing it.

While Teppei tries to figure out who leaked the story about Okawa, Kazuko overhears her husband discussing that very subject with Daisuke.

At Mikumo's urging, Daisuke finally agrees to provide Teppei with the remaining funds. Washima says he will not be renewing his contract after all.

Daisuke reveals the depths of his dark animosity. Just as the blast furnace is nearing completion, there's an explosion at the construction site.

Reeling after the revelations in Shino's letter, Teppei confronts his father in front of the whole family and asks him a very pointed question.

Father and son face off against each other in court, with each man taking the stand. In a surprising move, Teppei requests an unexpected witness.

With his back against the wall after damning testimony, Daisuke makes a shocking move, turning the tables on his son.
