Vint Cerf, Steve Case, and Ed Snowden -- internet insiders reveal its hidden past and startling present.
Host Derek Muller escorts us to the physical heart of the Internet, describes the very first message sent by UCLA professor Leonard Kleinrock, and demonstrates how Internet co-creators Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn devised a language that gave birth to the Internet as we know it.
We peer inside "The Internet of Things" and reveal how web advertising, search engines and 24/7 surveillance have transformed our lives. In the words of Edward Snowden: "TV is a medium you watch. The Internet is a medium that watches you as you watch it."
Muller introduces viewers to “white hat” hackers, the U.S. Secret Service’s cybercrime division including West Point soldiers, all of whom are working to protect us from the risks associated with persistent connectivity, as the Web transitions from a medium to a utility, on par with electricity.

Putin, Russia and the West is a four-part British documentary television series first shown in January and February 2012 on BBC Two about the relationship between Vladimir Putin's Russia and the West. The series is produced by Norma Percy, whose previous series include The Death of Yugoslavia, Israel and the Arabs: Elusive Peace, and Iran and the West. The documentary was criticized by some dissidents for being an apology for Putin's regime.
