As an adult, his ambitions lead him to Paris where he begins experimenting in balloon aviation, setting him on a path to become one of the most influential inventors of the modern era.

The Paris Aeroclub announces an air race around the Eiffel Tower, causing indignation among the poor and working class, but giving Alberto an opportunity to show off both his genius and generosity.

Santos Dumont receives a heavy blow when his mentor passes away. The Archdeacon Prize is announced and offers a reward for any flight over 25 meters with a “heavier than air” craft, prompting Dumont to secretly develop his own design.
Santos Dumont wins the Archdeacon Prize and once again becomes the talk of the town with his now infamous aircraft, the 14-Bis. The praise is short-lived as Santos Dumont begins to feel the pressure of his competition.
