São Manoel Caminho da União

The Other Side of Fear signifies the actions which incite religious violence and broaden the divide of cultural and moral beliefs in society. The film shadows two clashing perspectives both of which are searching for safety in their own communities and these perspectives blend testimonies of trauma and manifestos of power. By using poetic documentation, the director acknowledges that there are more than two sides to every story and intertwines these sentiments, embodiments and experiences into one journey to understand what is happening behind the doors of communities the other hasn’t experienced.

In this short, Willer’s poetic images and his voice dress the streets, the skies, the avenues. Here is Willer, the great poet and living legend of the sixties generation, in front of the camera, letting us into his universe, which Priscyla Bettim & Renato Coelho approach as a poetic encounter, in which experimental cinema becomes a powerful catalyst for his poetry. From an erotic and personal approach, the filmmakers give substance to what Willer states...or perhaps it’s the reverse: it is the images that coexist freely with the sound field of words and music.

The documentary questions femininity through the perspectives of two defeminized women, who share their experiences and the stigmas they face in society because of the way they dress.

A Brazilian production that portrays a journey of struggle, faith, hope and transformation through powerful life experiences.

Davi, a ten-year-old boy, shares a deeply affectionate relationship with his mother, Rosa. When Rosa experiences a schizophrenic episode, the dynamic between them is reversed: Davi assumes a caregiving role that no child should have to occupy. Set against the backdrop of a house move in Nilópolis, in Rio de Janeiro’s Baixada Fluminense, the film follows the small gestures of survival, tenderness, and exhaustion that shape their bond after his mother’s episode. My Mother’s Father is an intimate drama about love, premature maturity, and everyday resilience, approaching mental health not through the lens of diagnosis, but through the territory of affection. A quiet portrait of a childhood marked by pain, but also by the possibility of carrying on.
