The Troubleshooters is a British television series made by the BBC between 1965 and 1972, created by John Elliot. During its run, the series made the transition from black and white to colour transmissions. The series was based around an international oil company – the "Mogul"…
Mogul strikes oil in the North Sea and everyone is sworn to secrecy. So when the story leaks to the press, executive Brian Stead wants the culprit sacked. Peter Thornton is sent to the rig to discover which rigger talked.
Robert Driscoll is sent out to take over negotiations for an important Middle East oil concession after the mogul representative has been killed in the desert. Driscoll antagonises the men on the spot, particularly the area manager Charles Andrews, who thought that he should have had the job.

The desert is like the sea. It takes possession of a man's soul. For a young geologist seeking to prove himself it is exciting. But like the sea the desert is dangerous.
Motor racing means excitement; it also means danger. Driscoll faces personal risk when he opposes Stead and tries to steer Mogul into Grand Prix racing.
Trouble erupts around Mogul's new North Sea rig when a few unguarded words open old wounds in a Tyneside shipyard.
The glittering world of advertising is a wonderful dream for Miss Mogul, Sandra Spratt. But others have a different view - and create a headache for Derek Prentice and Mogul.
Prejudice has deep roots. Driscoll is involved in an explosive situation in northern Canada when Mogul takes an Iroquois Indian for an important job.
Freedom is very desirable. But when Peter Thornton envies the life of a Mogul tanker driver he finds that no man is as free as he seems.
A beautiful girl and a heart attack combine to make Brian Stead want to retire. But attacks from within Mogul rouse his fighting instincts and complicate his decision.

The world's first mega-soap, and one of the most popular ever produced, Dallas had it all. Beautiful women, expensive cars, and men playing Monopoly with real buildings. Famous for one of the best cliffhangers in TV history, as the world asked "Who shot J.R.?" A slow-burner to begin with, Dallas hit its stride in the 2nd season, with long storylines and expert character development. Dallas ruled the airwaves in the 1980's.
To coincide with COP28, the two-part arte documentary (originally from PBS Frontline/BBC under the title "Big Oil vs. The World" / "The Power of Big Oil") shows how oil companies and politicians have, for decades, sowed doubt about the causes of climate change and obstructed necessary countermeasures. In light of the growing threat of natural disasters, heat waves, and floods, the film examines the precise reasons for this long-standing obstruction and questions the responsibility of powerful oil companies like ExxonMobil.
Norway knew nothing about oil and gas production when the international oil giants would explore the North Sea. But after the first oil discoveries on the Ekofisk field in the late 1960s, Norway has grown into a technological and economic power, mainly thanks to the black gold that is pumped up from the seabed. This series of five episodes tells the story of the Norwegian oil adventure.
The discovery of oil brought unprecedented economic growth to humanity. Initially, oil was available in large quantities and cheap – but in 1973, a consequential oil price crisis hit, and the sticky commodity became part of a geopolitical poker game. The struggle for global resources is more relevant than ever.
